The atmosphere in the maternity centre was serene. There was nothing suggesting the occurrence which took the reporter there. Nurses on duty were courteous but grew cautious and suspicious when it was obvious the reporter was not a patient. Why is he here?
The birth of a new born baby would normally elicit joy and excitement in people. It is more so when the mother has been longing for it without results for years. But, the reverse was the case in a maternity centre (name withheld) situated at Ifosan area of Ilesa, in Osun State where a woman recently gave birth to a baby with two horns on its head.
A tip had given Saturday Tribune photos of the strange baby, the arrival of which caused fear and trepidation among the nurses and the proprietress of the maternity centre. The tip also described the hospital and the geography of its area of operation.
The description was vivid and accurate enough for Saturday Tribune to locate the health centre without much difficulty. Here is the maternity centre where the baby with two horns was born. Then, there was a thick wall of silence. Nurses on duty would neither deny nor confirm the development. The reporter was tossed up and down and finally landed before the proprietress of the centre. She would not talk unless her identity and that of her hospital were protected. The reporter gave his words.
"It is true the baby was born," she said, but added that the horror of the event compelled her to instruct her staff to keep sealed lips over the development, with a view to warding off public attention to the centre over the scary baby.
Speaking with Saturday Tribune during the visit on Thursday, the proprietress, (she is called matron by her staff) said the woman who gave birth to this deformed baby was "about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years."
She explained that "this woman lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirt of Ilesa. She registered for antenatal service here. So, when she wanted to put to bed, her relatives rushed her here to deliver the baby.
"But we were shocked to the marrow when she eventually delivered the baby with two horns on the head after going into labour for some hours. By the time she was delivered of the baby, it was already dead and we had to separate it from the placenta.
"I have never seen such a terrible creature in my life. So, we helped to pack the dead baby and the placenta and handed them over to them before they left our premises. It was indeed a fearful development and we were saddened about it.
"This is not something we can celebrate. So, I ordered by nurses and other attendants to keep their mouth shut over the incident. But, I am very surprised how you people got to know about it and came here to inquire about it. I do not want anyone to make something unnecessary out of this or create problems for us here," she stated.
She would not disclose the whereabouts of the woman who delivered the baby. "I cannot give you any details about her. Like I told you, she lives in one of the farm settlements on the outskirts of Ilesa and I don't really know the area and I want you to leave me out of this matter," she added.
The woman who froze when she was shown the photographs of the baby, however, confirmed its genuineness but asked how Saturday Tribune got them. A staff member of the clinic also showed Saturday Tribune her own photos of the baby taken with her phone.

The police in Lagos have arrested a 42-year-old man, Alli Mustapha, for allegedly killing one of his customers, Idowu Maliki, in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Mustapha had a shop at Imope Compound in Ikotun, where he sold petty goods to people in the community.
The Niger State indigene was alleged to have sold a stick of cigarette to the deceased on Saturday, March 7, which the latter refused to pay for.
Our correspondent learnt that when the victim returned to the shop some minutes later, an argument ensued between him and the suspect.
In the ensuing scuffle, our correspondent learnt that Mustapha hit Maliki's head with a long stick and he slumped.
Efforts to revive him failed as he was later confirmed dead at the Igando General Hospital.
In his statement to the police, Mustapaha admitted to committing the crime, adding that the deceased had first hit him.
He said, "I don't know the man's name, but he comes to my place to buy things. On the fateful day, he came to buy a stick of cigarette. He did not pay for it.
"He returned few minutes later and wanted to enter my shop. I refused to allow him. But as I tried to stop him, he took a stool and hit me with it.
"Then he started looking around for other things to hit me and that was when I quickly grabbed a long stick which I usually kept in my shop to protect myself, and hit his head with it."
It was learnt that the victim was first rushed to a private hospital, but was rejected before being taken to the Igando General Hospital.
PUNCH Metrolearnt that his corpse had been deposited at a morgue in Isolo.
The police arraigned Mustapha on one count of murder before an Ebute Meta Magistrate's Court.
The offence was said to be punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
The magistrate, F.J. Adefioye, asked the Investigating Police Officer, Sergeant Olaniyan Rasak, to give the facts of the case to the court.
Rasak said, "On that day, the deceased bought cigarette from the defendant without paying. Few minutes later, he returned to the man's shop and along the line, argument ensued.
"The deceased punched the defendant on his nose. The defendant then picked a stick in his shop and hit him on the head."
The police prosecutor, Iyobosa Onaiwu, asked the court to remand Mustapha in prison.
The defence counsel, Beauty Otighi, asked the court to prevail on the prosecution to speedily duplicate the case file for legal advice and ensure the 30 days window period was not exceeded.
The magistrate, Adefioye, said, "The defendant is hereby remanded in custody pending the Directorate of Public Prosecutions legal advice. The case is adjourned till May 25, 2015."

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be sanctioned for his goal celebration when he netted the equaliser in Sunday's La Liga 'Clasico' at Barcelona, the president of Spain's professional soccer league (LFP) said.
Ronaldo, not for the first time when he has scored at the Nou Camp, appeared to be urging the Barca fans to calm down when he struck to make it 1-1 in the 31st minute.
The Portugal captain, regularly the subject of abuse himself, has gained a reputation for winding up opposing fans and was widely criticised when he tore off his shirt to celebrate his successful penalty in last season's Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid.
"We have to be careful with provocative gestures by a player when he scores a goal or with any other provocation or conduct that could incite violence among spectators," LFP president Javier Tebas told reporters on Tuesday.
"It must be sanctioned, from a fine up to a suspension," he added. "We will look into it."
Following the death of a Deportivo La Coruna fan in fighting before a La Liga game in November, Spain's soccer authorities are seeking to crack down on any action by players or supporters that may be construed as provocative.

Story according to urban website - Crazy Days and Nights.
For the first time I can remember, the two lost their cool in public where at least four other diners and a couple of waiters in a private room witnessed them having a blowout fight. Granted this intel only comes from two people who were in the room but once tabloids and wallets start digging perhaps they can get the waiters to spill.
The two were at dinner and had just had appetizers brought to the table.
A bodyguard was in one corner of the room seated at a table looking around but mostly looking at his phone. Beyonce started speaking louder and louder and Jay tried to get her to be quiet while looking around. The bodyguard started watching the scene and stopped looking at his phone but did not get up.
Things settled down when Jay whispered in Bayonce's ear. About ten minutes later Beyonce said something else and whatever Jay said didn't seem to work. He shrugged his shoulders and Beyonce started pointing at him and leaned over the table and got closer to his face and started talking louder.
He then said one last thing, pushed back her chair and threw her napkin on the table before getting up and headed towards the door. She motioned for the bodyguard to follow her and walked out the door to the room to the main part of the restaurant. By the time she got to the door, Jay had thrown literally a stack of money on the table and was chasing after her.

“Our children are our hope and that’s why Goodluck Jonathan said the children should be made to be the leaders of today. We should thank God for the administration of Goodluck and PDP.

According to Ali Baba, what funded the initial boom of the home video was the proceeds from crime, just like organized crime and the mafia did for Hollywood. Read full article. Popular comedian, Ali Baba, is popular for airing his views on entertainment matters on social media. The veteran recently took to his Instagram and Facebook page to address the issue of funding Nollywood. According to him, many actors don’t know the real reason Nollywood grew to where it is at the moment. He went on to state advance fee fraud (419) as the reason. Read excerpts from his article; “Not many know that the real reason Nollywood grew and became what it is today, was because of advance fee fraud. Yes. 419. Yes go call police. What single HANDEDLY funded the initial boom of the home video was the proceeds from crime. Just like Organized crime and the mafia did for Hollywood. I will explain.” “Remember I told you of how everyone waited to be on television soaps or be a part of a stage production or just hung around waiting for something to happen. There were many people with scripts and the only thing that held their dreams down was funds.” “The funds were not going to come from government or any individual. The only Bank that sponsored stage plays at the time was NIB (Nigerian international Bank) they always went all alone to sponsor or in conjunction with the USIS. That source of funding later was to dry up because certain people did not deliver. “But that will be a story for another day. Anyway SHA, in the midst of all that not knowing where funds will come from, Nnneka, The Pretty Serpent came out. Many more home videos were to follow. Guess who were the guys doling out money for the home videos? “These 419 guys had so much money, they built palaces as houses and malls as country home mansions. And how best could they show off the houses, cars, clothes, furniture and money? If you guessed, In home videos, you are absolutely correct. Now, don’t forget that these were proceeds from crime. “The 419ers were not accountable to anyone. So, they were not looking for Return on Investment. All they wanted was for their friends who saw the video to know that that was one of their houses in different parts of the country. They also wanted their fleet of cars to be used by the actors and actresses. Some of whom also benefited from their generosity. With such free funds flowing in, the actors who had been dormant woke up. “In fact the 419 funds triggered a whole lot of allied businesses. Make up, camera rentals, audio experts, generator rentals, VHS and pneumatic tape dealers, editors, producers, scriptwriters, screenplay writers, soundtrack makers, special effects, drivers, welfare, costumier, continuity, graphics,… Most of them funded by advance fee fraud proceeds. “Undoubtedly, the monies were proceeds from crime. The investors, or better put, financier, did not look forward to their monies coming back. So, return on investment was impossible. “They only wanted to have everyone see their cars, clothes (often used by lead characters) and houses . And as time went on they demanded that they were thanked SPECIALLY immediately after TO GOD BE THE GLORY “It will be grossly unfair to history if I failed to mention that these 419ers were making things happen, pulling their weight in gold and even benefited in kind from some movies they sponsored… As they were known to have married some of the actresses. “From then on, sponsors were falling over themselves to sponsor movies. Some of the 419 guys even appeared in the movies they sponsored. The actors and actresses started to command very interesting fees to act in home videos. Then gradually, they (419ers) started to dictate who appeared in their movies. As this was happening in the home video space, musical artistes were also benefiting from the proceeds as well as they were being invited to perform for very tidy sums. “The home video industry was agog. Things were happening. Lifestyles of actors changed. Better fees were charged, depending on how good your negotiation skills were. Many more 419 guys saw it as a PR arm of their business. “It’s important to note that with time, as expected, some producers, directors, actors and actresses at this time had gotten so popular, that they were beginning to dictate what happened in the market. The new cartel that had been formed, who were the financiers of the home video industry, now called the marketers, decided to seize back the controls of the growing industry. A case of who pays the piper dictates the tune. Some were banned and others whipped into line. “Years on, the heat started to be unbearable for the 419 king pins. Maga was not even paying as they used to, yet, the authorities, through the Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) were hot of their tails. Many were picked to explain the source of their wealth. Some Lilly livered ones spilled and the people they mentioned were promptly picked. Their houses were seized, cars confiscated and accounts frozen. “Account officers in banks who were the people helping to launder the funds were picked up as well. It was very common back then, to see that the advance fee fraudsters, had married their account officers. So, when the bubble burst and the poo hit the fan, some of these account officers, now wives, were thinking of how to hide what they could, protect their children and families, still maintain the lifestyle, pay lawyers, get their 419 husbands bail every now and then, depending on when a new reported case fingered them. “Some wise 419ers, especially the educated ones, who had made good money, invested in some other businesses and cleaned up their businesses and tracks. Some not so smart ones, were selling off properties and cars and running out of Nigeria to Ghana or other neighbouring countries. Some unfortunate ones were swindled or blackmailed by the police to quietly forfeit their proceeds of crime. And others just went underground totally. “The consequence of these happenings was the dearth of the Home video business. Funds were hard to come by. Stars had been made and they needed to be paid to maintain the glamour and assumed high life style of the rich and famous. The seasoned professionals, who were shut out from the 419 windfall, and had not been benefiting from the free funds, had overtime, sourced funds from legitimate sources to shoot their own movies. These professionals, many of whom had come from thespian backgrounds, also had been making money from producing, directing, scripting and acting in the home video sectors and allied businesses. They now became the fall back for many 419 dependent actors and producers. “The funding of the home video industry was now a case of who can bring the needed funds. Many repented 419ers still had money, but were no more interested in showing off their houses, cars and wealth. They just wanted to stay clear of the home video business. But good enough for the young industry, the hunger for the movies had been created. The market was waiting for movies, and anyone who had a story and could assemble a cast put it out in the market. The marketers of the movies had made stupid money in the home video boom and now started funding movie productions.

A former spokesman for the United States Ambassadors to the United Nations (UN), Richard Grenell has sounded a note of warning to Nigerians against voting for the of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, saying his candidature would spell doom for the entire African continent. Grenell made he call via a piece published in the Washington Times on Thursday, March 19, 2015 and titled: Nigeria on the brink, where he warned Nigerians that General Buhari was striving to entrench Sharia law in the country. Grenell further said that the success of the above will stunt the fight against insurgency in the country and the continent in general. He said: “Western foreign policy observers pre-occupied with the rise of ISIS in the Middle East should wake up to the reality unfolding in Nigeria. Opposition candidate General Buhari wants Sharia law throughout Nigeria. In fact, he wants it everywhere. “Is this an indication that Buhari supports violence because the end goal of the terrorist attacks throughout Nigeria and Africa is an Islamic state? It is a legitimate question that should be asked by leaders of the Obama administration. “Boko Haram has pledged its allegiance and support to ISIS. The Northern Nigerian based Islamic terrorist group wants Sharia law throughout the country and beyond. They are also actively terrorising Chad, Niger and Cameroon with their goal of an Islamic state. “Buhari has also spoken sympathetically about members of the terrorist group Boko Haram, has cautioned against a rush to judgement on its members and has personally been selected by the terrorist group to lead its negotiations with the Government of Nigeria. “Buhari’s election as Nigeria’s head of state would be a disaster for Africa. It would also signal trouble for the West’s fight against ISIS and terrorism throughout the Middle East.” Grenell therefore urged the West, especially the President Obama administration to get behind President Goodluck Jonathan, as his fight against terrorism and transformation of the Nigerian economy deserves commendation. He said: “The Nigerian economy has been growing faster than South Africa’s. Imagine what Nigeria could do for Africa if it was also free of Boko Haram’s violence. The Obama Administration should be doing more to ensure Africa’s most populous country doesn’t slip away. “Islamic radicals have Africa on their target list and young Nigerians are reported to be interested in ISIS’ messages. Nigeria is at a tipping point. The West, and specifically the Obama Administration, needs to wake up to the growing problem.”

Spain forward Diego Costa will miss the holders' Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Ukraine on Friday and a friendly away to Netherlands four days later due to a hamstring injury sustained playing for Chelsea at the weekend.
Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) medical staff confirmed the injury in tests in Madrid and Costa has withdrawn from the squad, the RFEF said on Spain's official website ( www.sefutbol.com) on Tuesday.
"Diego Costa will return to Chelsea where he will undergo the corresponding medical treatment," the federation added.
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has already drafted Juanmi in as cover, the 21-year-old Malaga forward winning his first call-up after representing Spain at junior level.
With four matches played, Spain are second in Group C on nine points, three behind leaders Slovakia, who beat them 2-1 in Zilina in October, and level with Ukraine.
The friendly against Netherlands in Amsterdam on March 31 is a repeat of the 2010 World Cup final and the first time the teams clash since Netherlands crushed Spain 5-1 in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup.

An explosion has shattered the arm of a teenager, Olawale Adekanbi, and caused confusion at the Agbado community in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The 17-year-old was said to be running an errand for his parents and saw a round object on the road which he reportedly kicked with his foot.
The PUNCHlearnt that as the victim approached the main road, he decided to pick the object with his hand.
Soon after he did, the object exploded.
The victim's palm was reportedly shattered, while he also sustained injuries in the legs.
The incident happened on Saturday on Adiyan Road, Rafco bus stop, in the Agbado area.
Adekanbi, who is on admission at Dr. Happiness clinic, a local medical facility in the area, said he was returning from the errand when he found a "ball" and decided to play with it.
He said, "When I woke up on Saturday, my dad asked me to run an errand for him. When I was retuning, around 9am, I saw something that looked like a ball on the road and I started kicking it and playing with it.
"When I approached the main road and saw many vehicles on the road, I decided to pick it up. As I picked it, it exploded in my hand and shattered my palm."
Our correspondent learnt that a crowd of people, who heard the blast, gathered round the victim.
His parents were said to have been alerted, and they rushed to the scene and took him to the hospital.
The victim's mother, Wunmi Adekanbi, said she also heard the deafening noise of the explosion.
She said, "We were all in the sitting room that morning when his dad said the television was faulty and since it was election period, there was need to know what was going on.
"His dad said he should call the technician that would repair the TV.
"Some minutes later, we heard a blast and we were all frightened. People started screaming my son's name and I rushed there. When I got there, his hand was gone."
A resident, Opeifa Toriola, who said his office was far from the scene of the incident, told our correspondent the explosion shook the area, wondering how the victim survived the attack.
"My office is very far from where the explosion happened, but it shook everywhere. It still beats my imagination how he did not die. His palm was cut off, and he also sustained injuries in different parts of his body," he said.
The traditional ruler of the community, Alhaji Lateef Adewale, said he believed it was a bomb explosion.
He said, "When I arrived at the scene and saw the victim, I knew it was not just an ordinary explosion. I have been a traditional ruler here for about 10 years and I have never witnessed this kind of thing before. It was nothing but a bomb explosion."
The incident was said to have been reported at the Ayinla Police station.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident but described the explosion as "mysterious".
He said, "We didn't have any bomb explosion because we sent a team to the place, led by the OC Explosive Ordinance Department of the police, and we could not see any material, item or remnant to suggest it was a bomb. But they are claiming it was a bomb explosion that cut off the boy's hand.
"Maybe it was a mysterious explosion, I cannot tell, because we could not see any material. The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the Divisional Police Officer and the EOD should continue to investigate the matter."

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has said that no amount of sentiment would make the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue in power after this weekend’s presidential election. Buhari stated this during his town hall meeting with political leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders in Imo State. He maintained that the PDP has thrown the country into turmoil, noting that the urge to vote the party out is not based on religion but patriotism by the people who are yearning for change. He said, “We are in trouble in this country; PDP cannot help us; let us vote them out; it is not about religion but patriotism; PDP has completely failed us. If you leave them for 20 years, they will still not perform. “Nigeria is being ridiculed all over the world because of their bad governance; Igbo people know this because they are mobile all over the world; APC represents freedom of security and integrity; they know this; so, no amount of sentiment will bring PDP back to power.” He stressed that after 16 years, instead of the economy of the country to thrive, it becomes worse by the day as a result of bad governance by the PDP, listing the dwindling oil sector and the devaluation of the naira as some of the shameful governance style of the party. Okorocha Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plans By PDP To Rig Election With Security Chiefs Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha has raised the alarm over alleged plans to rig the forthcoming presidential and other elections in the state by the PDP using security chiefs to perfect their plan. Okorocha, who raised the alarm during the town hall meeting of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari with some stakeholders in Imo State, further alleged that the present transfer of the security chiefs in the state such as the state commissioner of police, AbdulMajid Ali, and other key officers that will be involved in the conduct of the election to other states justifies their rigging plans.

Luck ran out on a suspected car snatcher in Lagos, Emmanuel Chukwunonso, who was arrested by the police after the stolen vehicle had a fault. PUNCH Metro learnt that Chukwunonso was nabbed by the Maroko Police Division in the Lekki area of Lagos after he and another gang member, identified simply as Chima, allegedly snatched a Honda Accord. It was gathered that Chima, however, was still at large. According to the police, the two suspects snatched the vehicle marked, EK804LSD, at gunpoint but the vehicle had a gear problem not far from the robbery scene. Our correspondent learnt that while Chima fled, Chukwunonso was caught and initially beaten by a mob before the police arrested him. Twenty-four-year-old Chukwunonso said he was formerly selling Indian hemp in Imo State before he came to Lagos. He said, “When I came to the Lekki area of Lagos, I took up work as a security man. I was paid N25,000 monthly. “After I was fired from the security work, a friend, Chima, and I decided we were going to rob and get money to solve our problems. It was on February 23 that we snatched the car. “Two ladies were inside the vehicle. We accosted them and pointed a gun at them. They both jumped out and took to their heels. It was a toy gun. “As we fled, the vehicle began to give us problems. It had a gear problem. “As I alighted, a crowd swooped on me, but Chima escaped.” Our correspondent learnt that the police were on the trail of the other suspect, while the stolen Honda Accord had been returned to its owner ─ a woman identified simply as Agonoma.

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has urged Imo people to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party at state and national levels. He said this at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Monday, during a campaign tour. Buhari said that the people should vote for the APC because the PDP has failed the people 16 years in power. “They did not provide jobs or security. The economy has drastically gone down. We cannot be alive and see our dear country die a natural death,” Buhari noted. Buhari, in a brief speech, charged the people to get their Permanent Voter Cards in order to exercise their right in the presidential and legislative elections holding next Saturday. In his speech, the Governor of the state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, described Buhari as a man that has zero tolerance for corruption, adding that Buhari would industrialise Nigeria if elected into power. “As his name means in Igbo language, Buhari will ‘Bugharia’ Nigeria for the better.” He said that the election will be won by the APC at all levels, adding that the votes of the masses will count just as he accused the PDP of planning to rig the elections.

Aishat Buhari, wife of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, has advised the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, to jettison any fear of being jailed if Mr. Buhari wins the forthcoming election, saying Nigerians are more concerned with changing the way the country is administered. Mrs. Jonathan has repeatedly spoken at campaign rallies for her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, about her fear of a Buhari presidency, saying the former military ruler will jail Mr. Jonathan and other leaders of the present government. In Edo State on Tuesday, the first lady warned women against voting in Mr. Buhari, saying she was not prepared to feed her husband in prison. But at a rally where she interacted with women in Edo State Thursday, Aishat Buhari said there should be no concerns about going to jail. Mrs. Buhari also said that the attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to portray her husband as a religious fanatic, is a desperate attempt to hoodwink the people, saying only those who want to loot the treasury are the ones campaigning with religion. “Each zone of the country has its peculiar problem. For me in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered one of our problems, though I know there is unemployment. Unemployment is the major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl-child trafficking. General Muhammadu Buhari is a leader who led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system,” Mrs. Buhari said. “For those that are campaigning, saying that he is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is. But they shouldn’t be afraid, because we are all yearning for change. The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now. “Already, they have painted him black, using religion. I’m happy today that Nigerians realize that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria. Any politician who talks to you about religion is a liar, he only wants to loot the treasury and the little resources you ought to enjoy. So say no politics merging it with religion to deceive the people. “I’m here today to let Edo women know that when my husband is elected into office as President, all these will be history. The insecurity, the girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South East will come to an end. There must be a cultural design that can accommodate the widow. A design that would make the girl-child comfortable wherever she is in this country. She doesn’t have to leave her country to go and prostitute elsewhere, it’s not her portion. Her portion is to have a highly standard and moral society for her to live in. Get married, have children, train them and also mould them to become the future leaders. “We are here today to also let you know that the collection of your PVCs is important and don’t ever sell it. It’s like selling your future. If you sell it for N5,000, you won’t see N5,000 again until after four years which will be bad. Get your PVC, vote for APC, vote for freedom, vote for a new Nigeria with good security, good education, good healthcare, good roads and all the basic necessities.”

Nadia Buari enjoys the spotlight, thanks to her flawless face; she made news headlines as one of Ghana’s best. She is also a very good actress, lately; she has been in the news for the wrong reasons. I would not refer Nadia as a washed up actress, but the pretty woman from Ghana quietly courts unnecessary controversies. Cooked, manufactured and packaged by her very unprofessional bunch of publicists, in her efforts to remain in the news. When she called it quits with Jim Iyke last year, she wanted the fact that her mum never liked James to remain a big secret. Nadia and her manager did everything to kill the news. When I got the hint that the relationship hit the rocks, I was begged not to write about it. I wrote about it because I hate lies. These twosome wanted to fool writers with fake stories about a relationship that never was. Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari were out to use a phantom relationship to remain in the news circle. I won’t call Nadia Buari, a drama queen, however; the recent saga surrounding the birth of her twins brought to the front burner yet again, news on Buari. At first, rumor mongers said, her twins dad was Ghanian President and now, we are seeing a new picture of a guy who tattooed her name on his neck. She also wrote on her Twitter handle, suggesting the President may be her twins father. According to a press release by her publicist (who pretends not to write on her behalf), made available to NigerianFM today, Nadia as usual wants to keep writers guessing, in order, to remain in the news circle.

Churches in Lagos State yesterday dedicated time to seek the face of God concerning next Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections. They prayed for peaceful and non-violent exercise, as the pastors cautioned members on how to behave during and after the elections. Many of the services monitored involved special prayer sessions for peace to reign before, during and after the elections. At Global Harvest Church, Maryland, Reverend Victor Adeyemi led members to pray for peaceful polls and the enthronement of the will of God over Nigeria. The 10th year anniversary service witnessed special prayer sessions in the two services for the will of God to reign over the elections. At Daystar Christian Centre, Oregun, Pastor Sam Adeyemi urged members of the church to pray for “those who will fulfill God’s agenda to be elected .” Pastor Adeyemi told his 20,000-strong congregation to pray against violence, bloodshed and for the will of God over the country. At St. Gerald Catholic Church Soluyi, Gbagada, the cleric urged the faithful to vote according to their conscience. He warned members against getting involved in arguments with anyone at the polling station and also to desist from any form of campaign for any candidate or political party on the day of the election. However, it was a more dramatic scenario at the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, where Presiding Bishop David Oyedepo asked members to come with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). The cards were used as a “point of contact” to pray for peace. Bishop Oyedepo asked the congregation to pray that God’s will be done at all levels of the polls. He prayed for wisdom for those in charge of the election, particularly officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). At many of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branches in Lagos, prayers were said for the elections. One of the pastors, who declined to be named, urged the members to be conversant with the electoral laws before, during and after the elections, while he also urged them to get their PVCs. Former vice presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the founder of Latter Rain Assembly (LRA), Pastor Tunde Bakare, prayed for the success of the election. He said: “May God Almighty ensure that Nigeria wins; may neither of the gladiators win, if the price we must pay for winning an election is losing the nation.” Pastor Bakare also took a swipe at some delegates to the Constitutional Conference for “flagrantly distorting the truth,” about the outcome of the conference. The cleric, who was an Ogun State delegate to the confab, berated Afenifere leader Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who was part of the Lagos camp, for saying he would not forgive the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, for what he (Buhari) did in the past. He said: “The Yoruba went to the National Conference as a group, but when the March 19 meeting took place, the Deputy Chairman was in Ibadan, while the Secretary, that led the group to the confab, was in Lagos. “The meeting in Lagos had a stain of unforgiveness. When I heard such sentiments as ‘I will never forgive General Muhammadu Buhari for what he did as a former head of state’, my heart sank.”

Nigerians have been urged to look beyond the dollars that are flying around allegedly from Presidency and go out on March 28 and vote for Muhammadu Buhari of the APC for the desired Change. This is coming from Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In this interview with LEADERSHIP, he explained why Nigerians should give the APC a chance to lead. PDP said it has lost confidence in INEC to guarantee free, fair and credible elections. Do you still have confidence in the electoral body? The INEC is independent and some of us and not only APC were worried that there was some interference in the independence of INEC. We want a situation where INEC would be properly funded because if you do not give them enough funds, they can’t perform because we saw that in Ekiti and Osun elections. There was an improvement and we want that improvement to continue. So, l will prefer not to give my verdict on the performance of INEC until after the election. You have averred that for elections to be free, fair and credible, they should be conducted on the same day. Why didn’t your party insist on this when INEC was to fix the timetable? Yes, l must thank you but it doesn’t really mean that that is the only way you can get free and fair elections. That is if it is conducted the same day. There are many other benefits, for example, the cost of election would be drastically reduced if you conduct all elections on the same day. Secondly, this uncertainty which was introduced by INEC through the advice of the NSA to shift date would not happen because if it is a constitutional matter and you fix a date like every February in an election year election will hold on a particular date, no security man would write anything to shift it because that would be contrary to the constitution. But above all, you would respect the fundamental rights of every Nigerian citizen to determine who governs him because you would eliminate the bandwagon effect. There would definitely be bandwagon effect if you have elections in more than one day because some people might say they are not going to vote on the second election because these people are already winning, so there are not participating. Secondly, some people would say because these people have won, let me support them even though you may not like their candidates in that election.
